JESUS HELP ME

Jesus help me - Your servant who was redeemed by Your Most Precious Blood.

In every need let me come to You with humble trust saying --
Jesus help me.

In all my doubts, perplexities and temptations -- Jesus help me.

In the hours of loneliness, weariness and trials -- Jesus help me.

In the failure of my plans and hopes -- Jesus help me.
In disappointments, troubles and sorrows -- Jesus help me.

When others fail me, and Your grace alone can assist me -- Jesus help me.

When I throw myself on Your tender love as a Father and Saviour -- Jesus help me.

When I feel impatient, and my cross is heavy -- Jesus help me.

When I am ill, and my head and hands cannot do their work -- Jesus help me.

In the good You would have me do;  in the pleasures I seek -- Jesus help me.

In the interest I have in loved ones and friends -- Jesus help me.

Agonizing Jesus, strip me of all intemperance in the use of life's comforts and pleasures.

Always, always, in joys or sorrows; in falls and shortcomings -- Jesus help me, and never forsake me.

Honesty in OA

I think I'm still in denial about being a compulsive overeater.
Why? Because for a few weeks now I've been having a really awful time staying on my food plan.  It's not that I've been doing any all-out bingeing but I've been replacing foods that I originally gave to my OA friend the day before.  That's not acceptable.
Dishonesty ensures failure.  It creates a stressful life of confusion.  And honesty is so simple, there's nothing to think about, just straightforward living.  No lying, cheating or changing things, no guilt, fear or shame.   Step work introduces us to honesty and keeps us there.
Soooo DO IT already!

Just for today, I will take an "honesty inventory" starting with a list entitled - things I'm dishonest about  -- and I will tell my sponsor about it.

Lord,In the maze of life's events where we're often a passenger on the rollercoaster of life's ups and downs, may we never lose sight of You, Jesus. You are the unseen but ever-present Shepherd who protects, guides and tenderly comforts us in all our trouble. Thank You, Lord, that when change is constantly about us, You remain steadfast, faithful, and dependable. You are the Anchor that keeps us grounded in the unseen but eternal truths we build our lives upon. Keep us faithful and help us to always believe! Amen.

Thanksgiving Prayer for 2010

A nice prayer for Thanksgiving:

Lord, out of the abundance of Your harvest we have so many delicious foods to enjoy. Thank you for Your blessings upon our gardens this summer. What a pleasure it is to plant fresh vegetables, herbs and fruit and to enjoy in due time the reward of our labor. Thank You for the rain, the sunshine, helpful insects, and the nutrient rich soil that nurture and grow the seeds. Thank You for the overabundance of vegetables that we are able to share with our neighbors and friends. You are faithful in providing for our spiritual, physical and emotional needs and we are grateful this day for Your marvelous blessings in our lives. In Jesus Name, Amen.

13 Tuesdays of Prayer to St. Anthony

Short Prayers to St. Anthony for "Thirteen Tuesdays" beginning Tuesday, September 9, 2010

First Tuesday
St. Anthony you found quiet time to retreat into private communion with God to replenish your life with new strength.  Help me in the midst of my busy life to seek the Spirit's guiding presence within my heart.  Thank you.

To be followed by this prayer on each Tuesday
O Holy Saint Anthony, gentlest of saints,
your love for God and charity for
His creatures made you worthy, when
on earth, to possess miraculous powers.
Miracles waited on your words
which were ever ready to speak for those
in trouble or anxiety.  Encouraged by
this thought, I implore you to obtain
for me  (prayer request).  The answer
to my prayer may require a miracle;
even so, you are the Saint of Miracles.
O gentle and loving Saint Anthony,
whose heart was ever full of human
sympathy, whisper my petition into the ears
of the sweet Infant Jesus, who loved to
folded in your arms, and the gratitude of
my heart will be ever yours.  Amen.

Anthony of Padua was born in 1195 in Lisbon, Portugal, the future St. Anthony of Padua was the son of a knight at the court of King Alfonso II.  He studied as a youth under the priests of the Lisbon cathedral and was ordained in 1219 or 1220.  He joined the Franciscans in 1221.

His sermons, noted for their eloquence, spirit, and persuasiveness, attracted huge crowds everywhere he preached.  His success in rconciling persons alienated from the Church and as a confessor was phenomenal.

He settled in Padua, Italy after 1226, and worked to abolish debtors' prisons, helped the poor, and worked ceaselessly and untiringly to teach authentic Catholic doctrine.

He died in 1231 at the age of thirty-six.  He was canonized a saint the following year and declared a Doctor of the Church by Pope Pius XII in 1946.

Stories of miracles obtained through his intercession and of his preaching prowess are legendary.  He is known as the "Miracle Worker".  He is the patron of the poor and oppressed and is widely invoked for the return of lost articles.  He is often depicted in art with the Infant Jesus in his arms.

Our Prayer For Thanksgiving 2009

For all my friends everywhere and in SparkPeople especially the Lehigh Valley Sparks Team, I wish you a happy, holy Thanksgiving Day.

Here's Our Prayer for Thanksgiving:

If we all say this prayer at dinner on Thanksgiving Day, (copy and print it out), we'll be together in heart and spirit. Everything in moderation SP Crusaders and you'll be alright. Speaking of being alright, check out MACGIRRL's SP blog, she has a great video to see.

A to-do-list for everybody!

Borrowed this from one of our team members, MrsMiller SP.

1. Take a 10-30 minute walk every day, and while you walk, smile. It is the ultimate anti-depressant.
2. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day. Talk to God about what is going on in your life.
3. When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement, ' My purpose is to__________ today. I am thankful for______________ '
4. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants. 5. Drink green tea and plenty of water. Eat blueberries, wild Alaskan salmon, broccoli, almonds & walnuts.
6. Try to make at least three people smile each day.
7. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, energy vampires, issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.
8. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a college kid with a maxed out charge card.
9. Life is not fair, but it is still good.
10. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
11. Don ' t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
12. You are not so important that you have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
13. Make peace with your past so it will not spoil the present.
14. Don ' t compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
15. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
16. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: ' In five years, will this matter? '
17. Forgive everyone for everything.
18. What other people think of you is none of your business.
19. GOD (depending on your beliefs) heals everything - but you have to ask Him (translate to your religion).
20. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
21. Your job will not take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch!!!
22. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
23. Each night, before you go to bed complete the following statements: I am thankful for__________. Today I accomplished_________.
24. Remember that you are too blessed to be stressed.
25. When you are feeling down, start listing your many blessings. You will be smiling before you know it.
